Bishop Reggie C. Witherspoon, Sr.
Bishop Reggie C. Witherspoon Sr., is a man God who has been entrusted with the sacred privilege of carrying a perpetual Kingdom “now” anointing. He is a visionary, innovative thought leader, shepherd to Mount Calvary Christian Center and a gatekeeper in the city of Seattle who is consistently called upon by Seattle governmental agencies to negotiate conflicts, mediate difficult situations involving them and the community.
Bishop Witherspoon received his education from Seattle Central Community College and Northwest University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Pastoral Ministries. He earned his Masters of Arts in Theology degree from Fuller Theological Seminary. Bishop Witherspoon has served as a consultant for World Vision Ministries and speaker and Volunteer Coordinator for Promise Keepers. Bishop Witherspoon has served as a Chaplain for the Seattle Fire Department. Because of his love for God’s people in foreign lands he has been sent for ministry work in various parts of the world, including Africa and Seoul, Korea to share the Gospel and partner with ministries in those locations. Bishop Witherspoon serves as the Chairman of Marketing and Sales for the COGIC National Publishing House.
Bishop Witherspoon founded Mount Calvary Christian Center, COGIC on August 30, 1987. During this time of new beginnings, the ministry consisted of 15 members. Mount Calvary continues to experience tremendous growth. Bishop Witherspoon has established multiple educational and outreach programs, including B.R.I.D.G.E. and BYTES.
Bishop Witherspoon, First Lady Laura Witherspoon and the ministry are committed to the success of the family and young people. Following an initial interview, with his eldest son, Reggie, Jr., who declared his dad as his role model, the Seattle Times interviewed Bishop Witherspoon for a feature article regarding their relationship and wanted to learn more about how he has influenced the lives of his children. Bishop Witherspoon’s ability to impact for the good extends beyond his family to the youth of the region and community. Bishop Witherspoon has previously served as a chaplain and facilitator of group sessions at the King County Youth Juvenile Detention. Through his ministry, many youths have come to the saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the youth are experiencing tremendous results because many of these conversions have led to the supernatural growth of Mount Calvary’s Youth Ministry. Due to this unique anointing to impact youth for the Kingdom of God, God birthed an outreach into the heart of Bishop Witherspoon after presiding over the funeral of two young men in one week. Bishop Witherspoon held the “Gathering the Sons” dinner that ministered to young men from various opposing gangs to provide a place for dialogue, healing, hope, and love.
Bishop Witherspoon was featured in a January issue of the Seattle Times, Pacific Northwest Magazine, titled “Preaching Power – The Rev. Reggie Witherspoon wages ‘spiritual warfare’ in Seattle’s Inner City”. This article focused on the tremendous move of God in the youth of the community and at Mount Calvary. Pastor Reggie Witherspoon stands out in the community as a father with a heart not only for his children but for all. It is undeniable that Bishop Witherspoon has an anointing for men, for the family and youth.
Bishop Witherspoon believes the purpose of the church is to glorify God, evangelize the world and edify the believer. Through an in-depth study of the Holy Bible, God is using Pastor Witherspoon to prepare people to be doers of the Word and not hearers only.
Bishop Reggie C. Witherspoon, Sr. is a man led by the Spirit of God with an anointing to lead the people of God into a deep relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ that produces authentic ministry and purposeful lives. Under Pastor Witherspoon’s administration, the ministry has renovated the Main Sanctuary, renovated The Joshua Generation Teen Center is equipped with an interactive technology center (BYTES), full kitchen, state-of-the-art electronic and communication devices, as well as a theatre with an area for ministry service. Under his leadership and fiscal wisdom, none of the properties owned by Mount Calvary Christian Center, COGIC have a mortgage.

Bishop Witherspoon, Sr. was born in Seattle, Washington. He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ in 1976 and preached his first sermon on September 21, 1980. He became a licensed minister in 1982 and was ordained in April 1984, under the administration of Bishop T. L. Westbrook.
Bishop Witherspoon is married to Laura Nadine Witherspoon. The Witherspoons' have four children, Reggie, Jr., LaTaunya, Romel and LaKayla Witherspoon, and three grandchildren.

LADY LAURA N. WITHERSPOON accepted the Lord in her life at the tender age of 12, at
True Vine COGIC in Los Angeles, CA, under the leadership of C.E. Williams,
where she was born and raised. Her family later relocated to Seattle, WA. She
joined and faithfully served at the Greater Revival COGIC, under the leadership
of Superintendent Luther James and Mother Anna Louise Green. In 1981, Lady
Laura and Bishop Reggie Witherspoon married; God blessed them with their “first ministry” to each other and their four children, Reggie Jr, LaTaunya, Romell (Tiana), and
Lakayla. She often declares “the two greatest investments you could ever
make in life, is in your relationship with God, and the family He entrusted to
you!”
Lady Laura’s passion for the success of the family and
ministry is exemplified through her years of active and unending support she provides
for her husband. There is no doubt she and her husband epitomize a unique
portrait of a dynamic dual and a fun-loving ministry team. Lady Laura often
publicly proclaims what an honor it is to have been chosen by God to serve
alongside her husband, to love on and to encourage His people.
Lady Laura received her education from Highline Community College, and
Northwest University where she earned a degree in Psychology. She
faithfully serves as Executive Director of the Women’s Affairs Ministry for
over 31 years. She has been instrumental in implementing several ministries
designed to meet the needs of the total woman. Lady Laura is quite the
innovative visionary. She founded such unique and
viable ministries such as: “H.i.- H.i.l.l.s®” (Hearts Interconnected Help
Inspire Leading Ladies Sisterhood), a unique ministry specifically designed to
encourage, inspire and empower pastors’ wives; P.R.E.T.T.E.E. Girls Club, a
ministry designed for girls ages 7-12 (Princess reflecting excellence through
training, education and empowerment), King and Queen Summit, Senior Servants
Ministry, a ministry designed to cater to the needs and welfare of senior
members… and more.
In 2012, Lady Laura was appointed as Assistant President of the COGIC
Washington State Jurisdiction Pastors Wives Unit for the Seattle region. In
2015, she was appointed as Administrative Assistant to the Jurisdictional
Supervisor, Mother Mary Jean McGraw, of the Washington Northwest Ecclesiastical
Jurisdiction, under the Leadership of the late Bishop James E. Hicks. Since her
husband’s elevation to the bishopric, she currently serves as a member of the Executive
Committee of the WNEJ Department of Women. Lady Laura serves as the Leading Lady
of the Pastor’s and Elders wives’ unit, under the direction of Supervisor Jean
McGraw.
Lady Laura has served as Couples Facilitator (alongside her husband) for
the National COGIC GCPE Shepherd’s
Conference, under the leadership of Chairman Michael Eddy. Her outstanding
sense of humor, coupled with her passion for marriage and the family, continues
to inspire and edify couples both near and far.
